It has come to this, a gym upgrade and a 5 day work out plan
If I haven't been blogging a ton lately this is why. I am now carefully scheduling life around gym visits and on the off chance I have a spare minute I research athletic pants that don't shine when stretched and thus highlight your unflattering parts. Although the scale will NOT move my clothes are all getting too big and I unearthed the plastic bin of clothes pre-pregnancies, so from 2003 ish? Turns out black velvet jeans are really not my taste any more as well as turtleneck sweaters and frilly blouses. Did I wear that stuff? Why did I not save any undergarments? Bras are expensive and boring and I hate spending money on them but unfortunately they are essential to fight gravity and be seen in public or actually to be seen by anyone including my children and husband, they must not know.
So all of this is hard. Eating well or at least trying to and uhhhh exercising is not one of my particular gifts. However this IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN BABIES.
Newborns. Just say the word and I want to crawl in to bed. Soft spots and spit up and little tiny human beings so fragile and helpless. I was always disheveled and sweaty and moving in a fog of sleeplessness with eye twitches, I couldn't remember names and I was never quite sure when the kids actually had to be at school it was just a shadowy window and a guilty feeling. Thank you Lord that we have made it to this point. All four children officially not babies, 3 of them potty trained, 4 sleeping through most nights and walking unassisted except for stairs (Charlie). Four healthy children with apparently unscathed soft spots. Hallelujah. I am off to the gym to with the two littlest because Sam, bless his heart, upgraded me and I can now use the babysitting.

So come Fall you're going to be my personal cheerleader, right? Reminding me that I will survive?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you blogged again. I was going to leave a snarky comment about your gym schedule interfering with my reading material. :)
I promise to remind you that you will survive!
DeleteHI. I just wanted to say KEEP WORKING GIRL!! Working out isn't fun but you are doing so well busting it out! Also, the scale may not budge because you are probably building lean muscle, which while your body shape will change (read: tone down) your weight won't because you are putting the weight back on in muscle (which is what you want!). Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement!!!
DeleteGreat news about the gym upgrade. You are in the worst phase of dieting with exercise - the phase where you learn that muscle weighs more than fat. The inches disappear but the pounds don't. The pounds will soon since that muscle also uses more caloriesper pound. Congratulations. Bras by the way can be shopped for in discount stores at the beginning of the trip down in pounds. Our Kohls always has a bunch that aren't too ugly but sometimes can be quite inexpensive. We have a Bealls Outlet that has rescued me with a bra or two that cost very little. I went from a 38 C to a 34 B and had to buy 36 C and then 36 B before I got to the final size. Both stores sold good bras and I got lucky enough to find good prices both time for the interim. I think prices ranged from about 8.99 to 12.99. The splurge bras were much more when I reached my goal.
ReplyDeleteI'e been hitting up T.J max:) The worst is sports bras, I have tried on a bazillion but the only one that actually works (no bounce) is the expensive one. I'm washing it by hand and letting it dry every night to prolong it's oh so valuable life:)
DeleteI have been buying the exact same bra from target for the last 3 years; it's always ten dollars, and it's cute and fits well...and lasts forever. ~gretchen
ReplyDeleteNot sure Target can handle double d's:( If they ever go down to a C I will never have to shop anywhere else but Target. A girl can dream.
DeleteI know. I could just kick myself for not saving my pre-pregnancy bras. But I NEVER thought I'd be that size again...
ReplyDeleteI know right???!!!!!
DeleteWay to go, Greta!!! You're doing awesome! That's awesome that you're having to dig through pre-pregnancy clothes....
ReplyDeleteBTW, love the color of Charlie's room!
Thanks and thanks! I am telling you Charlie plays in his room all the time now that we made it cute!
